From climate crisis to climate credit
In these cold times of climate- and credit crisis, the solution means: to invest in sustainable initiatives.
That’s just what is put into practice in the city of Hooghalen (the Netherlands).
At this very moment, you can take part in the generation of green energy yourself! Another good thing about it is: genuinely it will cost you no money.
Paul Tienkamp, owner of campsite- and artgallery Thyencamp, explains: “I want to reform the large roof of my farmhouse into one big powerstation. There are already solar concentrators- and panels on the roof. But there is plenty of room for a lot more! The problem is; in these times of credit crisis no bank will give me a loan. But of course I won’t reconcile myself to this situation! I believe we can achieve this aim in close cooperation with our guests; the campers and visitors of the artgallery!”.
The goal
The goal of campsite/artgallery Thyencamp is to become a green energy producer instead of being a consumer only.
In this way they can do their share in solving the energy- and climate problem, together with their guests.

Inspired by the project ‘Boerzoektbuur’(‘Farmer looking for Neighbour’) from Greenchoice and Cocreatie and assisted by the Hanzehogeschool in Groningen (college of advanced education) they developed the following idea:
The procedure
Costumers lend €250,= to Thyencamp for the installation of solar panels on the company’s roofs.
This sum will be saved to get invested in solar panels, solar foil or windmills as soon as there is enough cash in hand.
In exchange for his investment of €250,= (or more), the costumer gets credit notes with the same value.
These credit notes can be used to camp on the beautiful Thyencamp campsite, or to buy art from the art gallery.
The credit notes are divided into pieces of €50,= each. They can also be used to give as presents to friends and acquaintances.
On the website will be mentioned which solar panel has been financed by whom. In this way a small part of the campsite Thyencamp will be ‘owned’ by that guest.

B2B:
Companies can also participate, with larger sums of money possible.
They will be mentioned expressly in an ad on the website and also in press releases.
Sponsoring sustainable energy for a well known company which works corporate socially responsible will probably offer attraction to many companies.
Greenchoice
When a lender (private person or company) also becomes a costumer of Greenchoice, Greenchoice will give Thyencamp €20,= for that costumer.
