Green Friends moving force behind green power station

There is so much bad news about the environment and the climate crisis. As long as politicians continue their decades-long squabble about halfway measures, individual initiatives seem useless. Yet, it isn’t necessary to maintain this gloomy picture of the future. Where several individuals join forces a wide range of possibilities unfolds.

The owners, Paul and Marjo Tienkamp, have always used green power. This green power is partly generated by solar panels on the roof of their farmhouse. There is plenty of room left for more solar panels or solar foil on this big roof. But this would take a big financial investment and in these times of credit crisis it’s almost impossible to get business credit. Therefore, with the help of Hanzehogeschool (college for advanced education) they’ve invented a creative construction.

The “Green Friends of Thyencamp” system is a cooperation between lenders and Thyencamp. When a lender gives Thyencamp a credit of €250,= (or more), he or she gets this amount of money back in coupons. A private person can convert his coupons into art from art gallery Thyencamp, or he can go camping at the unique Thyencamp campsite.

Next to private persons Thyencamp also cooperates with other companies, B2B (Business to Business). Lending companies will be better known for being Corporate (Socially) Responsible (CSR).
