Washing Machine / Dryer

Our Miele hotfill washing machine is directly connected to the solar boiler. This means it will be filled with hot water that hardly ever needs to be additionally heated by the machine itself. This was a big investment, but has led to substantial energy savings. Therefore the cost of using the washing machine is less than at other campsites. Environmentally friendly washing detergent is included in the price.

We also have an efficient, environmentally friendly Miele tumble dryer available for use at an equally reasonable price. 
It is heated using gas, not electricity.

To further reduce electricity consumption we wash clothes at 30 degrees.

The Miele hotfill machine leads the TOP10 of  efficient washing machines published in September 2008. 

Under the right circumstances hotfill machines are more efficient than washing machines that fill up with cold water which is then electrically heated by the the machine itself. The maximum energy reduction is 75%. 

The biggest saving can be made using warm water from a solar boiler. When using a central heating or gas boiler, the length of the warm water supply pipe should not exceed 10 metres. Using water from an electric boiler will not reduce energy consumption.
