Security

Next to comfort, ecology, wheelchair accessibility and a fun and friendly atmosphere, we also keep an eye on the safety of our guests. 

Inspection of 25 large campsites (minimum of a 100 pitches) carried out by various inspection bodies in 2006 presented us with some grim findings.

Its conclusions include:
- legionella prevention is unsatisfactory
- campers are too close to each other
- there is a high risk with regard to propane tanks and the storage of gas bottles
- recreation rooms are often not certified - escape routes are unclear
- not enough fire extinguishers

The measures we have taken:  

We pay extra attention to legionella prevention. For further details see our seperate page on this subject.

We do not have propane tanks and gas bottles on our site. All gas pipes are located in the farmhouse / gallery and are laid by a certified installation engineer.  For the purchase of gas bottles we refer to Schreur in Hooghalen.

Our pitches are very spacious.  We ask guests to maintain at least 3 metres distance from each other. This distance makes it hard for fire to spread from one tent / caravan to another, and is also welcomed from a privacy perspective. There is also plenty of water available throughout the site.

Our recreation room complies with all Health and Safety regulations. We also have a drinks licence. Although not a word is said about this in the VROM report, we would like to mention our fire alarm system. Also in connection with the gallery, we have had a combined burglar and fire alarm installed by ESB in Beilen. The entire building (reception, bathrooms, washing room, workshop, gallery) is equipped with permanent smoke/fire detectors that are linked to a central alarm system with a direct connection to the phone.

Emergency exits These are clearly indicated and well lit. Sign are inspected annually by

Night and emergency lighting make sure no one gets disorientated, even when it is completely dark outside. Backup power ensures the lights still work in the event of a power cut. The 11 fittings on the site are inspected annually by

Electricity supplyThe electricity for the farmhouse and the campsite are seperated. The connection points at the pitches all have their own earth leakage circuit breaker. Should one short-circuit, the remaining pitches will still have electricity.

Calamity plan One can be found in the information folder that we give to all guests. It also has a list of important phone numbers in case of an accident.

First aid Both Paul and Marjo are certified first responders. Furthermore, Marjo has years of experience as a doctors assistant.

Certification Health and Safety inspections are carried out annually.

BUT

Our playground equipment does NOT formally comply with the safety requirements. We therefore do not call it playground equipment, but a 'wooden structure'. Use of this structure is at ones own risk. It was given to us in 2004 by several (sub)contractors who helped us build our campsite. Breaking it down to replace it with approved equipment would be such a waste.  There is no risk involved with normal use of the structure.
